Breaking the cigarette habit, especially cold turkey, is never easy (I used to suck on Jolly Ranchers until my mouth bled), but if you can make it past the first few months, it gets progressively easier. I'm currently living with a housemate who smokes (not an ideal situation, but in the short term too many other positives outweigh this one negative) and I'm proud to say that I'm not in the least tempted to pick up a cigarette. In fact, I find the smell more and more repulsive as time goes by. It wasn't too long ago that the smell of a freshly lit cigarette would stir the residue cravings of my former addiction, fortunately not enough to backslide.
